Frequently Asked Questions
See below for some frequently asked questions. Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions or need more information.
What percentage of my contribution goes to support our troops?Everything we do is done by volunteers so our overhead is almost non existent. We do, however need to pay for things such as postage for mailings, golf course rental, etc. Every cent of net funds we raise goes directly to support our veterans.
Why do you only support OIF/OEF veterans and not veterans of other wars such as Desert Storm?
The purpose of NH Freedom Cup is to provide financial support for active duty military and their families plus OIF/OEF veterans who are experiencing hardship as a result of their service.
NH Freedom Cup was established in memory of Mike Ouellette, who gave his life for his country in Afghanistan. He also served two tours of duty in Iraq. Unfortunately, multiple deployments are common in today's military. This puts a lot of pressure on the men and women in the military -- and their families. And creates a fair amount of post deployment problems for veterans and their families.
We honor and respect veterans of every era -- in fact our planning committee is made up of veterans from many different eras. Our focus today is OIF/OEF era military and veterans. As we and our funding grow we hope to be able to expand the veteran communities we service.
Do I need a golf handicap to play in the tournament?
No. The tournament is a best-ball format. Every player plays a shot. Then everyone hits from the best result. This continues until your team holes out. Best score wins the tournament.
Can I make a contribution without participating in the tournament?
Yes. Simply go to the "On-line Donations" page. Or send us a note using the "Contact Us" page.
